Damen Dredging Equipment manufactures a large range
of dredge pumps, for example:
Inboard dredge pumps
Submersed dredge pumps
Low pressure dredge pumps
Medium pressure dredge pumps
High pressure dredge pumps
Hopper pumps
Booster station pumps
DOP® submersible dredge pumps
Single walled dredge pumps
Double walled dredge pumps
Inboard dredge pumps
Inboard pumps are mounted on board of trailing suction hopper dredgers,
cutter suction dredgers, sand win dredgers and in booster stations.
These centrifugal pumps are usually either diesel driven or electrically
driven.
Our product range includes low pressure, medium pressure and high
pressure dredge pumps which means that we can offer you the right dredge
pump for your working conditions : from hopper filling to discharging
over kilometres, from pumping gravel to pumping silt.
The dredge pumps can be of the single walled or double walled type.
A double walled dredge pump has a welded mild steel heavy outer casing,
which is mounted around a inner pump casing which is a foundry piece.
Submersed dredge pumps
Submersed dredge pumps can be mounted in trailing pipes, on ladders of
cutter dredgers or sand win dredgers, or a DOP®-submersible dredge pump
can be lowered by a steel cable to the right working depth, or the DOP®
can be attached to the boom of an excavator.
The DOP®-submersible dredge pump is usually hydraulically driven.
All submersed dredge pumps can be either hydraulically or electrically
driven. Submersed pumps are used when the dredging depth is significant,
or to maximise the mixture concentration.
Shaft seals
Various types of shaft seals are available:
Grease packing : a simple construction using grease packing
which is
wrapped around the shaft sleeve.
The packing is grease lubricated, and gland water is used to
keep the
shaft seal sand-free;
Floating water chamber: a construction needing little
maintenance and
able to withstand higher pump pressures.
The sealing is done by oil retaining rings, which run on a
replaceable
shaft sleeve which protects the pump shaft.
The seal is placed in a double, flexible housing.
The seal requires grease and gland water;
Mechanical seal : a mechanical shaft sealing with ceramic
surfaces.
This long-life seal needs ultra low maintenance.
Grease and gland water are not required, which make the
seal an
environmental friendly and cost-cutting solution.
Foundry materials
The wearing parts of the dredge pump, being the pump casing, the
impeller, the wearing plates and the suction mouth, are items cast from
wear-resistant materials.
The different casting materials have been developed in particular to
extend the lifetime of a wearing part.
Each casting material has its own specific properties.
