Denialink - Coal fired power stations

Today we are technically capable of storing huge quantities of:
Coal,
FGD-gypsum,
Limestone or
Fly-ash,
as produced and/or stored on site at coal-fired power stations, in totally enclosed systems.
This proven concept meets the requirements of the Environmental Protection Agencies worldwide.

Coal, make it invisible

Coal, make it invisible.

What are the benefits?
The benefits of using the Eurosilo Storage and Handling System in a coal fired power stations are:

No unsightly open stockpiles
Efficient space utilization
More energy from your coal
Low operating and maintenance costs
Environmentally safe
Flexibility

References
ESI Eurosilo has built coal silos in Bergisch-Gladbach and Hamburg, both in Germany. Two coal silos on a Power Station Project in Ackerman (MS), USA has been commissioned mid 2000.
Starting in October 2003, ESI Eurosilo is building 4 pieces of 'underground' coal silo's, of 50.000 m3 each for Helsinki Energy.
Commissioning is planned in June/July 2004.

Efficient space utilization
Eurosilo requires a considerably smaller space requirement than that of any other storage system.
For instance, Eurosilo which can store material to a height of 35 metres, requires only 40% of the area required by open stockpiles for the same storage capacity.

Low operating and maintenance costs
Eurosilo systems provide a high degree of equipment availability.
The complete handling and storage installation is remotely controlled so there is no need for local operators.
Where two or more identical units are being built, redundancy will almost eliminate downtime.
Spare part inventories can be kept to a minimum; as each identical unit can use them.

Environmentally safe

Efficient space utilization.

Low operating and maintenance costs.

This proven system meets the requirements of Environmental Protection Agents worldwide.
Dust emission is almost negligible.
Contamination of surrounding land by runoff from open outside stockpiles is eliminated.
Eurosilo prevents deterioration of material due to weather conditions such as frost and rain.

Flexibility
With the Eurosilo system, stored material can be changed at any time; changing characteristics of the stored material does not affect it's reclaim ability.
Multiple silos offer true flexibility; one filling and the other reclaiming; both filling or reclaiming or, simultaneous filling and reclaiming.
Due to adjustable out-feed rates different grades of coal can be blended on the belt by flexible proportioning.

FGD-Gypsum

The flexible concept of the Eurosilo Gypsum silo made that today over 35 are built all over the world.

Many FGD-installations are retrofits.

The Eurosilo Gypsum silo is the answer to the space problems.

One of the advantages is that the complete dewatering station can be placed on top of the silo, saving even more space.
Train and/or truck loading may be subjacent to the silo.

Basic silo configuration
The basic FGD-Gypsum silos consist of a small infeed conveyor transfer station, a storage section and a reclaim tunnel.
The Eurosilo mechanism inside the storage section is fully automated.
To fill or to reclaim, just press the button.

Integrated in building
ESI has built their silos both as stand alone units, as well as integrated in complete buildings.

Dewatering on top
Very often there is not much space available for the installation of the FGD system.
In such cases, extended silo structures are provided and the entire dewatering installation can be placed on top of the Eurosilo® system.
With this system the savings are:
Dewatering building area.
Vertical transport of the dewatered FGD-Gypsum.

The FGD-Gypsum suspension is pumped directly to the dewatering installation on top of the silos.

Limestone
One of the great advantages of the Eurosilo system is its tolerance to the properties of the materials.
Limestone can be stored both crushed and milled.

Fly-ash
To accommodate the seasonal storage needs for fly-ash, relatively large storage capacities, up to 50,000 m3/unit, can be required.
The Eurosilo system is well suited to store the various grades of fly-ash.

ESI Eurosilo offers both new facilities as well as oil tank retrofits.
